Substance misuse

 Substance misuse

Substance misuse (the problematic use of alcohol, illegal drugs and illicitly used prescription medicines) is the cause of a range of health impacts, drives anti-social behaviour and crime, contributes to poverty and poor outcomes for young people and families, and causes death in some cases.

The partnership works to support people who misuse substances (including offenders) into treatment as early as possible and tackle the criminality of illegal drugs, underage sales and illegal products with enforcement activity.

Everyone is encouraged to report needles or syringes dumped in public places so that they can be removed. Additionally, the reporting of Nitrous Oxide Canisters will help us to understand the extent of the issue in the borough

Dudley Council commission practical support services for people with drug and alcohol problems via Change Grow Live and Cranstoun.
